Tutoring

Physical Science Tutoring occurs on Wednesdays from 3-4 pm starting in LATE October. If students need help before then, they are to come on their OWN time before school, at lunch, or after school. Wednesdays are the only days that tutoring is offered, and if that time does not work, there are VARIOUS resources that I have on my web page for assistance in learning concepts.

Remember, answers for homework can be found in the student text. We go over chapters and their sections TWICE in class. Have your students use their books!

Online Tutoring

There are two places to find online tutoring to help your student learn/retain information for 8th Grade Science CSTs.

1) iTunes University
    a) Physical Sciences
    b) Physics
    b) Biology Basics

2) Studyladder
    a) Free accounts are limited to 3 activities per day, but it's a good resource.

Literature Journals Initiative

Mr. Jones wants all students to complete this journal every day and I will be checking on it every Friday. This is why students MUST have at least TWO library books: one for home and one for class.

Why Dropbox/Flashdrives

Over the last couple of years, parents have asked me why I require a Dropbox or a flash drive for my classes. So, why do I? I require them for two reasons...

1) Security: Our school laptops are used by EVERY STUDENT at our school, and, at times, they do break/get a virus, etc.. If that happens, all the work saved on that laptop is gone and, in most cases, all that work needs to be redone. Also, it prevents other students from possibly tampering with other's work.

2) Portability: Your child finished her PowerPoint, but wants to change the color. It's due tomorrow. They can't because it's at school. With a Dropbox/Flashdrive, that is never the case and you can work on it anywhere.

I prefer a flash drive, since it doesn't require the internet, but if you do use a Dropbox (free), please click on this link and sign up...

Dropbox

Walmart has some by Wintec for around 6 dollars. Here's the link.

Advisory Classes

Advisory Classes are to have all materials from the right. If they already have me for one of the Science classes, then they only need another composition book.

Physical and Life Sciences

All students need the following materials EVERY DAY in order to be successful in this class and in all other classes:

·       Pencils
·       Colored Pencils
·       Pencil Sharpener
·       Crayons
·       ONE Composition book that stays in class. Must be         over 100 pages.
·       Ruler (inches and cm)
·    Obama Global Prep Agenda
·       School Scissors
·       Glue stick
·       Calculator (NOT on phone)
·       Book Cover
·       Science Textbook EVERY DAY
